It is always so special to me when my couples become my friends. It is weddings like these that remind me why I love this job so much, and I am grateful to get to share such special moments with my couples! Megan and Brian’s relationship is rooted in a long friendship, and it was so beautiful to watch them glow among a big group of best friends that is their “crew”, surrounded by the mountains and their families. For their fall wedding in Redstone, Colorado, they laughed during the ceremony, danced the night away (this was one of the most fun parties I’ve photographed!) and cherished each other under the Colorado sky.

Embracing the Season: A Perfect Fall Wedding

September in Colorado is when nature puts on its most vibrant display, and Megan and Brian embraced this by choosing a fall-themed wedding. The rich, earthy tones of autumn were present in every detail, from the décor to the bridal party’s attire. This theme perfectly complemented Megan’s boho-chic style, creating an elegant and relaxed day - a true reflection of the couple's personalities.

BOHO ELEGANCE: MEGAN’S CAPTIVATING BRIDAL LOOK

Megan’s wedding dress, with its flowing, lace-detailed design, captured the free-spirited essence of the day. With wildflowers in her hair and a simple bouquet matching the fall theme, Megan looked like she had stepped out of a fairytale. Her choice of a wide-brimmed hat added a unique and fashionable touch, making the couple's portraits unforgettable.

Brian, too, looked effortlessly stylish in a relaxed suit that perfectly complemented the laid-back vibe of their boho-themed celebration. Together, they embodied the spirit of a boho wedding amidst the natural beauty of Colorado.

I was so excited to see Megan in her wedding dress for the first time! I was nervous and had no idea how I was going to react. I thought Megan was the most beautiful person in the world when I finally saw her!

INFUSING FALL COLORS AND BOHO VIBES INTO EVERY DETAIL

The beauty of fall was woven into every aspect of Megan and Brian’s wedding. Their floral arrangements featured deep oranges, rich reds, and earthy greens, echoing the colors of the surrounding Colorado landscape. The outdoor ceremony, set against Redstone’s towering cliffs, was breathtaking. The early autumn leaves provided a colorful backdrop that made the scene look straight out of a dream.

The couple exchanged vows under a handcrafted altar decorated with foliage and rustic touches. Every detail spoke to the couple’s love for nature.

A Historic Gem: The Story of Redstone Inn

The Redstone Inn, located in the charming town of Redstone, Colorado, is steeped in history. Built-in 1902 by industrialist John C. Osgood, the Inn was originally part of a model company town for his coal mining operations. It has been meticulously restored today, offering modern comforts while preserving its historic character. With accommodations for around 90 guests, the Inn is ideal for intimate weddings. The nearby town of Carbondale provides additional lodging options for larger gatherings, just a 15-minute drive away.

The Crystal River, which runs through Redstone, adds to the venue’s charm, offering a picturesque spot for wedding photos. Megan and Brian took full advantage of the river’s beauty, capturing some of their most memorable moments against this stunning natural backdrop.

McClure Pass: A Scenic Wedding Portrait Location

Just a 10-minute drive from Redstone, along Colorado State Highway 133, McClure Pass offers awe-inspiring views of rugged peaks, as well as dense aspen groves. In the fall, McClure Pass transforms into a golden tapestry of aspen trees, making it a breathtaking location for wedding portraits. Megan and Brian’s photos at this spot were magical, with the autumn colors perfectly complementing their boho wedding theme.

DIY Magic: Styling a Boho Wedding

Megan and Brian’s wedding was a testament to how a little creativity can go a long way in planning a dream wedding - They opted for DIY decorations that added a personal touch to their celebration without breaking the bank.

Thrifted Treasures: Unique Reception Details

Megan’s talent for finding unique and meaningful items was fully displayed at their reception. “Our table decorations were some of our favorites,” Megan shared. She drifted every unique centerpiece from the Aspen Thrift Store, which donates 100% of its proceeds to local charities. This approach was not only creative and budget-friendly but also environmentally conscious, adding a layer of depth to their fall wedding decor.

In addition to the thrift centerpieces, Megan and Brian handmade all their table numbers and crafted their wedding altar with the help of some of their best friends. The support of family and friends was a constant theme throughout the day, with loved ones pitching in to help with everything from setting up the ceremony space to dancing the night away at the reception. The community surrounding Megan and Brian made their day even more special and meaningful.

SPECIAL DETAILS: MAKING THEIR DAY TRULY UNIQUE

Megan and Brian infused their wedding day with personal touches that made it their own. Megan’s jewelry, for example, carried significant meaning. She wore a turquoise ring her mother had bought as a teenager, a pearl necklace gifted by her Filipina host mother while she served in the Peace Corps, and earrings gifted by Brian on the morning of their wedding. Each piece of jewelry told a story, adding a layer of sentimentality to their special day.

One of the most unique elements of their wedding was the wig-themed dance party. Megan, Brian and their guest donned wigs for the reception—a fun tradition that began during their college days. “We met in college, and our college friends, who we referred to as ‘the crew,’ would frequently wear wigs out to the bars,” Megan shared. “It just became a fun tradition! Even on the night Megan finally got the courage to ask Brian on a date, we were both wearing wigs! It was one of those things we knew we needed to do at the wedding because it was so true to us, and everyone had a blast!”

I was so nervous walking down the aisle in front of all those people, but as soon as I saw Brian, I couldn’t get to him fast enough. That whole moment of standing in front of our loved ones and telling Brian why I love him and vow to spend forever with him was one of the best moments of my life.

We wouldn’t have changed a thing. All three of you were so kind, friendly, and easy-going that it kept us calm and relaxed through all the photo sessions. It was also so amazing that we could relax knowing you were everywhere we needed you to be to capture all the most important moments. Also, all of our pictures were so incredible. The angles, the shots, how you posed us and captured us candidly— all so amazing!

Final Thoughts: A Boho Wedding to Remember

Redstone is incredible, with its massive red cliffs and historic charm. The attention to detail, even on a budget, set Megan and Brian's wedding apart. Their boho wedding at the Redstone Inn was a testament that a wedding doesn’t need to be extravagant to be unforgettable. By focusing on what truly mattered—love, community, and nature—they created a day that reflected their values and brought together the people who meant the most to them. Their boho-chic celebration in historic Redstone will be remembered for its beauty and warmth and love that filled the mountain air.

Megan & Brian'S ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES

“Be true to yourselves and follow your heart. If you ask a hundred people, you’ll get 100 different kinds of advice, but at the end of the day, it’s YOUR wedding, and the only thing that will matter is that it turned out how you wanted it to. Also, marry your best friend.”

When reflecting on their experience working with me and my team, Megan and Brian couldn’t have been more complimentary: “We wouldn’t have changed a thing. Brian said, ‘I felt like a celebrity or a model!’

Megan added, ‘My mom, a tough cookie sometimes, raves about how kind and professional you were. She also loves all of the pictures she’s in!’
